A warm welcome on a hard week

Not every visit to Carpenters Café is about a specific need. Sometimes it’s simply about having somewhere warm to be, and people around who don’t ask too many questions. On difficult weeks, that matters as much as anything practical we can offer.

Volunteers and visitors sit together, share a meal, and take a break from whatever’s going on outside. For some people, it’s the only regular social contact they have in a week. For others, it’s a bridge to the more practical support (food, clothing, guidance) that they came in for in the first place, once they feel comfortable enough to ask.

That’s the quieter side of what Carpenters Café does. Not just meeting immediate needs, but making sure no one has to face a hard week entirely on their own.
